I went shopping today and bought this tie dye leotard for only $27 from Sportsgirl. It was on sale for over half price! I love a good bargain.
Can't wait to experiment wearing it with different clothing. I'm pretty sure I'll be wearing it a lot this summer.

I went to this art gallery today not far from my house & it had the most amaaaaazing black & white paintings. I can't believe I never noticed it before. It really inspired me to get back into art again and be creative!

I would love to collect art. I can't wait for the day when I have my own house and can cover every wall in fantastic pieces that express my personality and sense of style. I think its incredible how looking at a certain piece can totally transform your mood and your perspectives on things.

I loved looking at the different characters portrayed in the paintings, some you can really identify with and others are interesting to look at closely to try and understand the story depicted.

Although the gallery wasn't huge, it had such a vast variety, from ancient Roman & Greek paintings to Australian landscapes, Andy Warhol inspired pop art to Monet impressionist pieces. I particularly liked the pieces of Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, James Dean and all those Hollywood icons in classic black and white. They would look so fantastic in my room....

MAC & Melbourne

Hey Everyone!

I'm heaps excited at the moment, because I am going to Melbourne in 6 weeks. I'm going to see Gina Riley (one of my favourite comedy actresses) in Chicago! I haven't been interstate for two years now and am really looking forward to a break from little old Adelaide. I have been saving up big time so I can spluuuuurge & have a great time. Still looking for accommodation eeeek, so if you know of anywhere in the cbd, please let me know :)

The weather here has been horrible....constantly raining, dark, gloomy & miserable! It makes deciding what to wear v difficult, as sometimes its hard to be stylish as well as practical..! tell me, what have you been wearing during the dreary winter days? I'm interested to know, as I have reached a point where I'm getting sick of being stumped & going through the whole ordeal every morning.

I am really getting into MAC makeup - I never would have thought there would be so many makeup tutorials onlines, and by some talented makeup artists at that. I've learnt so much since watching them. Pixiwoo in particular, is my favourite. I can't wait for the new collection, "Colour Craft" to come out. The eyeshadows in particular look amazing!

I'm also interested in the Mineralize Skin Finish Trio, the colours look beautiful. I got these off the Canadian website as the collection is not yet out in Australia...but it is the best collection I have seen in a while, something there for everyone.

First of all, I just want to apologise to everyone who reads my blog for not posting in such a LONG time!! I am determined to get back into blogging again, as I love any form of self expression and this feels like a good medium to share my thoughts and opinions on various subjects.

I have been crazy busy with uni, lots of assignments due and work on top of that... I haven't been putting this a priority, but I have missed it a LOT :) I'm not sure what to do with my blog... I have so many different interests that I find it difficult to know what to focus on! I went through this dilemma when deciding what to study... (I study Psychology by the way). I have a passion for helping people, and I think the most rewarding thing would be to know that you've made a difference to the world. At the same time though I am very artistic and creative. I have always had an urge to be expressive and somehow feel more confident and self assured whenever I do.

Lately I have been getting back into drawing again, which I love to do, especially portraits. Maybe I could post some up here? I also play the piano and have been doing this since I was 8. I would like to start writing my own songs and music again, but it's just difficult with the things I have to do to find the time sometimes. Unfortunately time management isn't my strong point.

I also want to get back into dance. Since the age of four, I have done all different forms of dance; jazz, tap, ballet, calisthenics... I've had a couple years off and now the urge is stronger than ever. I would like to have a try at ballroom, latin and different genres, just to see what I like & eventually I think I'd like to become a dance teacher. Hopefully I will start organizing all of this soon, because I know I will feel more fulfilled if I do.

Although I am passionate about all things fashion, I also love makeup, and have been getting into it a lot more lately; reading makeup blogs, watching tutorials on youtube (which I strongly recommend...until recently I didn't realise they existed!) and have started to branch out into more professional makeup and skincare such as MAC, Napoleon Perdis, Clinique, Lancome, Inglot, etc.

I would love to hear your opinions on what you would like my blog to be about, what you are interested in reading, etc. Whether it be a more personal blog, fashion, makeup, art, music, or a combination of all of the above! I'd appreciate your opinions :)

The blog title is lyrics from the song "Candle in the wind" by Elton John.

I have been fascinated by Marilyn Monroe and the life she led and recently finished "Marilyn Monroe: a life in pictures" which was insightful and inspiring.

I think there is so much more to Marilyn than meets the eye, she had strong emotion and wasn't just the sex icon the media made her out to be. Her childhood was truly horrific - she grew up without a father, her mother suffered from mental illness, so she had to live in various foster homes and orphanages, where she was often abused. This left her with low self esteem, which is why I think she wanted fame so badly - to have that validation and acceptance.

She was an eternal beauty and offered something unique to the world that could never be replicated. Unfortunately, I think she was very misunderstood within the media and by many people. I have had a lot of stuff to blog about lately, as I've been having VERY successful shopping adventures, particularly with designer vintage finds which I have been meaning to blog about, but unfortunately I've been having some trouble with my camera. Hopefully in the next couple days I'll be able to post some photos, as well as some OUTFIT posts :)

It is horrible weather is Adelaide at the moment, 40 degrees PLUS. Its been a nightmare and sooo draining... When I'm not working I haven't been really active because I dread just going out of the house! Living like a hermit is not fun at all... Meanwhile I have been obsessing about fashion and spending WAY too much money, but my wardrobe is thanking me for it.

I absolutely adored the movie "Marley and me" when I saw it on new years day. It was a fantastic movie to start the year off with. It is a great story that takes it's viewers on an amazing journey. I have never been so emotional during a movie! I think anybody who has ever had a pet that has died before can relate to this film.

Owen Wilson is one of my favourite actors and I adore watching his comedies, but I was impressed at the amount of expression he depicted. It was so moving and great to see the soft, thoughtful side he was able to express through his character, John Grogan.

One quote touched me in particular, about how a pet will love you no matter what you look like or what you do - you can't say the same about many people. They are not judgemental like so many people tend to be, they will love you unconditionally, without boundaries. I am dying to read the book now - if anyone else has read it, let me know your thoughts...

I love vintage style black and white photos. The women always look so beautiful and glamorous.

I am craving some vintage clothing right now from the local op shop (most of the things there are just $1!) its great when i need a cheap thrill..but I am spending the day at the beach. I will take photos and post them tomorrow! I'm going to my favourite beach at Normanville, just over an hour away but well worth the drive!

exercise tips anyone?

I recently joined the gym as I am trying to lose some weight and have started eating healthier - as one of my many new year's resolutions. I would really like to get into a good routine of exercising regularly and eating healthy, so that I have more energy as well as more confidence in myself. I was wondering whether anybody has any tips for exercising at the gym? the best way to exercise to lose weight, etc. I would really like to hear your opinions! I hope everybody had an amazing nye! I am very excited about 2009 and all it's possibilities. I plan on squeezing as much into the year as I possibly can and living life to the fullest :) If you would like to share your resolutions or your hopes for the year, I'd love to hear them also.

First of all, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!!

I would like to go back to my natural colour of medium brown as I'm sick of always having dry, damaged hair as well as all the maintenance (and money) my hair requires. I was thinking the easiest - and quickest - way to do this would be to cut my hair shorter.

I love all the funky modern crops but I'm worried they won't suit me. At the moment my hair is about 11 inches long...I was planning on growing it longer but if I want to have my natural colour back it might be better to cut it.

What do you think? Has anybody been through this before? Here are some hairstyles I like...

Adelaide has had some crazy weather lately...it is meant to be summer and only the other week if was cold and rainy! Now it has finally warmed up a bit and I can't wait to hit the beach.
I can't believe there's only a few days left until Christmas!! I did my shopping early this year (for a change - I usually leave it till the last minute), so its nice not feeling stressed and panicky about what else I need to buy. I'm looking forward to going on a huge shopping spree after christmas with all the massive sales, I've already started writing a list, let's just hope I can have some self-control so I don't spend all my savings...

I love these photos, they remind me so much of my childhood & growing up in the country. I was a real little country bumpkin when I was a kid, always asking for more animals and I remember begging my mum for a horse. I still have a love of animals and even though I live in the city now, I miss the country lifestyle.

I am really interested in photography and would love to do a photography course. If you have done any courses or are passionate about photography I would love to hear from you :)

When I was out Christmas shopping today, I saw a Sex and the City movie coffee table book and I want it! It's definitely something I'm adding to my wish list. Its probably been out for quite a while but it's the first time I've seen it!

I have a complete fascination with this show, its so unique and portrays the characters so accurately. I hope I'm as fashionable as these ladies when I reach my thirties!

Secret Diary of a Call Girl

I started watching Secret Diary of a Call Girl a couple months ago on youtube, when I saw an episode on tv one night. Although prostitution is something I'd never personally consider, the show really fascinates me.

The characters are so diverse and interesting, the suspense is thrilling (who will be behind the door...) and her lifestyle is like no other person I've come into contact with. But what intrigues me even more is how she seems to be so "normal" - not a word I really like using - but if you saw "Hannah" walking down the street, you'd never pick it. It certainly challenges your preconceived notions of prostitution and the stereotypes attached to the title, 'prostitute'. Belle de Jour wasn't forced into prostitution due to poverty or substance abuse issues, for her it was a choice, and something she even enjoys.

I am considering buying Belle de Jour's novel "The Intimate Adventures of a London Call Girl" to feed my addiction...

It's almost the end of 2008 & near the end of every year, I always find myself feeling more positive, looking forward to a fresh start and the chance to make positive changes in my life.

I signed up to chictopia recently and was totally inspired to start blogging. I love writing, fashion, art, almost anything creative or artistic, so I thought why not?

Tonight I went out with my best friend for dinner and drinks in the city. We went to a thai restaurant, then to an italian one for dessert and then to a bar for cocktails. It was a good night, but really quiet, being a monday.
